Celebrating the importance of clothing as a primary form of expression, from the Byzantine Empire to today’s catwalks, this exhibition creates a dialogue between inspirational fashion objects by Italy’s most celebrated designers. The enduring power of fashion as a symbol of identity shines through masterpieces from iconic Italian houses including Gucci, Armani, Versace, and Dolce & Gabbana.

From Byzantium to Ravenna, this sophisticated collection showcases garments that trace the bond between these two cities. Featuring idealized silhouettes and ethereal designs, the pieces embody a tangible yet timeless elegance that transcends time. Each creation intertwines the past with the future, and culture with innovation.

The exhibition highlights silk dresses adorned with gold, studded with stones and enriched with precious jacquard weavings and embroidery - all inspired by the jewels worn by the fascinating Empress Theodora. These garments reflect Byzantine artistry and opulence through luminous elements reminiscent of pure gold mosaic tiles mellowed by time, vibrant colored stones, and imperial purpure, inspiring entire generations of Italian designers.
